Bulbous white web (Leucocortinarius bulbiger) photo and description

line:

Diameter 4-8 cm, semi-ovoid or bell-shaped in young specimens, gradually opening to semi-prostrate with age; a blunt tubercle remains in the center for a long time. The cap margins are covered with white remnants of cortina, especially noticeable in young specimens; the color is indefinite, passing, from cream to dirty orange, the surface is smooth and dry. The flesh of the cap is thick, soft, whitish, without much smell and taste.

Înregistrări:

Grown with a tooth, frequent, narrow, white in youth, then darken to cream (unlike other cobwebs, due to the white color of the spore powder, the plates do not become completely dark even in adulthood). In young specimens, the plates are covered with a white cobweb cortina.

Pulbere de spori:

Alb.

Picior:

Short (5-7 cm high) and thick (1-2 cm in diameter), white, with prominent tuberous base; the ring is white, cobwebbed, free. Above the ring, the stem is smooth, below it is velvety. The flesh of the leg is grayish, fibrous.

Spread:

It occurs from August to October in coniferous and mixed forests, forming mycorrhiza with pine and spruce.

Specii similare:

From the cobweb family, this fungus certainly stands out with white spore powder and plates that do not darken until old age. Also noteworthy is a slight resemblance to an extremely unfortunate specimen of the red fly agaric (Amanita muscaria): the white remains of cortina at the edges of the cap resemble half-washed warts, and the pinkish-cream color is also not uncommon for the strongly faded red fly agaric. So such a distant resemblance will serve rather as a good distinguishing feature of the white web, rather than as an excuse to eat a red fly agaric by mistake.

Comestibilitate:

It is considered an edible mushroom of medium quality.
