Gleophyllum log (Gloeophyllum trabeum) fotografie și descriere

Gleophyllum log is a member of the extensive family of gleophylls.

It grows on all continents (excluding only Antarctica). In Our Country, it is everywhere, but most often specimens are found in deciduous forests. It prefers to grow on dead wood, often on stumps, it also grows on treated wood (oak, elm, aspen). It also grows in conifers, but much less frequently.

It is widely distributed on wooden buildings, and in this capacity log gleofllum can be found more often than in nature (hence the name). On structures made of wood, it forms powerful fruiting bodies of an often ugly appearance.

Season: all year round.

An annual fungus of the gleophyll family, but it can overwinter and grow for two to three years.

Feature of the species: in the hymenophore of the fungus there are pores of various sizes, the surface of the cap is characterized by the presence of a small pubescence. It is confined mainly to deciduous trees. Causes brown rot.

The fruiting bodies of the gleophyllum are of a prostrate log type, sessile. Usually mushrooms are collected in small groups in which they can grow together laterally. But there are also single specimens.

Hats reach sizes up to 8-10 cm, thickness – up to 5 mm. The surface of young mushrooms is pubescent, uneven, while that of mature mushrooms is rough, with a coarse bristle. Coloring – brown, brown, at an older age – grayish.

The hymenophore of the log gleophyllum has both pores and plates. Color – reddish, gray, tobacco, brownish. The walls are thin, the shape is different in configuration and size.

The flesh is very thin, slightly leathery, brown with a reddish tint.

Spores are in the form of a cylinder, one edge is slightly pointed.

Similar species: from gleophyllums – gleophyllum is oblong (but its pores have thick walls, and the surface of the cap is bare, has no pubescence), and from daedaliopsis it is similar to daedaliopsis tuberous (it differs in caps and the type of hymenophore).

Ciuperci necomestibile.

In a number of European countries (France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Latvia) it is included in the Red Lists.
