Widely distributed in Europe, North and South America and Japan. Usually grows in groups. Prefers humus soil, lands on humus. Most often found in mixed and coniferous forests.

The color of the hat can be very diverse. In young mushrooms, it is a lilac-gray color, it can be light wine-gray. You can also trace the olive tint. In a more mature form, it acquires a red-orange color or red-red. It can sometimes be greenish, and even pinkish. To the touch, the cap is slimy and smooth.
Pulpă the mushroom has the same color as the cap, maybe a little lighter. Taste and smell are not pronounced.
