Fruiting body of thyroid discine:

The shape is discoid or saucer-shaped, veined, often irregular, strongly wavy. The cap diameter is 4-15 cm. The color varies from brown to pinkish-olive. The underside is off-white or grey, with prominent veins. The flesh is brittle, thin, whitish or gray, with a slight mushroom smell and taste.

Picior:

Short (up to 1 cm), veiny, not separated from the lower surface of the cap.

Pulbere de spori:

Alb.

Spread:

The thyroid disc comes across from the beginning of May to the middle of summer (the mass exit, as a rule, occurs in the middle or end of May) in forests of various types, in parks, often located near the rotting remains of trees or right on them. Prefers, obviously, coniferous wood.

Specii similare:

In the same places and at the same time, Discina venosa also grows. It occurs, obviously, somewhat less frequently than thyroid disease.
