Canadian scientists from the University of Ottawa investigated the effect of honey on 11 strains of microorganisms, including such dangerous pathogens as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Both pathogens often acquire resistance to antibiotics and, in this case, are practically unaffected.

Bacterial rhinitis must be treated with antibiotics, but if the bacteria has acquired resistance to them, the disease can become persistent and chronic. In this case, honey can become antibiotics and cure the disease, according to a report by Canadian scientists at the annual conference of the American community of otolaryngologists AAO-HNSF.
