For planting, we need dates, which need to be cleaned of pulp so that mold does not form. Soak the fruits in water for a couple of days. After the seeds are planted vertically in moist soil to a depth of 1 cm.
For a palm tree, it is better to choose a substrate from a mixture of peat and sand. You need to plant seeds in the spring. It is better to put the pot in a sunny place in a room where the temperature will be at least 20 ° C.
The plant is unpretentious. When growing, you need to follow a few simple rules:
- The palm tree needs sunlight and warmth, so it is better to put the pot in a room where the temperature in winter will be at least 18 ° C.
- When leaves appear, they should be regularly wiped with a damp cloth, and the plant itself should be sprayed. Water should not fall on the soil, it is better to cover it before showering.
- When the sprouts reach 15 cm in height, they are transplanted. For transplantation, choose soil from sod land, humus, peat and sand (ratio 2: 4: 1: 2). You can add charcoal to the pot.
- The palm tree needs to be fed weekly in summer, autumn and spring. In winter, you can add organic and mineral fertilizers to the soil once a month.
- There is no need to overmoisten or overdry the soil. Watering should be balanced.
In order for the plant to grow healthy, it is imperative to adhere to all care recommendations. If the leaves of the palm tree have begun to darken, then the soil is too wet. In case of severe yellowing, the air humidity should be increased.
You cannot cut off the top of the date palm, because this is the point of growth of the trunk. In order for the crown to form evenly, you need to regularly rotate the pot, changing the location of the plant to sunlight.
At home, the date palm does not bear fruit. Fruits appear when the plant reaches a height of 15 m.
