Works in the garden in June

Here is a list of the most important tasks for the first month of summer.

Plantați copaci și arbuști. June is an excellent month for planting seedlings with a closed root system (in containers). There are no frosts after the 10th, which means you can safely plant even heat-loving plants, and there is still no strong heat, that is, they will be very comfortable.

Feed the blackcurrant. This is the only berry shrub that needs top dressing in June. Fertilizers should be applied in the middle of the month: dilute 1 liter of mullein infusion (or 500 ml of chicken manure infusion) in 10 liters of water and water the bushes at the rate of 2 buckets per bush.

Feed strawberries. Do this 2 weeks after picking the last berries (1). At this time, plants need organic matter – mullein or chicken droppings. They are bred in the same way as for currants, but the watering rate is different – 1 liter per plant.

Liquid organics can only be applied to moist soil, that is, the plants need to be well watered per day.

Trim faded shrubs. This needs to be done for two reasons:

  • to preserve the decorativeness of plants;
  • prevent them from setting seeds, the ripening of which takes a lot of strength.

Udă grădina. Fruit trees need to be watered 3 times per season. The first is in early spring, before the buds open. The last one is before harvest. But the second watering falls just in June – it is carried out 2 to 3 weeks after flowering.

Watering rates depend on the age of the tree:

  • up to 5 years – 5 buckets per tree;
  • de la 5 la 10 ani – 15 găleți;
  • peste 10 ani – 20 de găleți.

But if it rains, then the watering rate must be reduced (2).

Înmulțiți arbuști. June is the best time for breeding both berry and ornamental shrubs. You can do this in two ways:

  • layering – in this case, the lower shoots are bent to the ground, pinned with wire and sprinkled with earth;
  • cuttings – they need to be taken from young mature shoots, and they can be rooted both in water and in the ground.

Garden work in June

Vegetables are more demanding to care for, and there is always more work in the garden. The list of works for June looks like this.

Thin out carrot crops. Her seeds are small, so they are always sown thickened. But with such sowing, normal root crops will not develop, so it is necessary to thin out – the distance between plants should be 4 – 5 cm.

Pinch the stepchildren of the tomatoes. It is very important not to allow them to overgrow, because they take a lot of energy from plants – the bush spends resources on the growth of green mass, as a result, the crop ripens later. Make it a rule to remove stepchildren as soon as they appear – at this time it is easy to simply pluck them with your hands, but so that a small stump remains – about 5 mm.

Pasynkovanie should be carried out in the morning, so that during the day in the sun the wounds are ventilated – this is a guarantee that they will not get an infection.

Water the vegetables. At the beginning of growth, they need a lot of moisture, so they need to be watered often and properly. The norms for the main crops are as follows:

  • cabbage – 1,5 liters per bush every 10 days;
  • castraveți – 0,5 l pe tufă o dată pe săptămână;
  • roșii – 1,5 litri pe tufă o dată pe săptămână;
  • ardei și vinete – 1 litri pe tufă o dată pe săptămână;
  • dovlecel și dovleac – 1 litri pe tufă o dată pe săptămână;
  • radish and lettuce – 5 liters every 2 – 3 days;
  • morcovi și sfeclă – 5 litri la 1 mp la fiecare 2 săptămâni.

Mulci paturile. Mulch performs 3 important functions: reduces the number of weeds in the beds, protects the soil from overheating, and does not allow moisture to evaporate quickly (3). And if you mulch the plants with hay, then there will also be an additional benefit – a hay stick will settle in it, which suppresses the development of diseases.

Harvest in June

În grădină. At the beginning of summer, radishes, green crops (lettuce, watercress), herbs (parsley, dill, cilantro) can be harvested in the garden. It is important to do this in a timely manner, until the plants go into the arrow and become rough.

În grădină. At this time, honeysuckle and strawberries ripen. And here, too, there is no need to delay cleaning – honeysuckle tends to crumble, and strawberries, if overripe, begin to rot.

Folk omens for gardeners in June

  • If there is a rainbow in the evening, then in the next couple of days there will be good weather.
  • The more abundant the dew in the morning, the better the harvest will be.
  • Warm nights – to a big harvest.
  • The more foggy, the richer the mushroom harvest.
  • If the nightingales sing all night incessantly, then tomorrow there will be a strong wind.
  • The more ants around the anthill, the better the weather in the coming days.
  • If the hawthorn blooms very actively and profusely – by a harsh winter.

We talked about work in June with agronom-crescător Svetlana Mikhailova – she gave some relevant advice.

How to properly water vegetables?
It is important to remember a few simple rules:

– water only with warm water – their well and water supply will not work;

– it is better to water in the morning so that the topsoil dries out by evening – this will reduce the risk of diseases;

– pour water under the root so that it does not fall on the leaves.

How to properly water a garden?
The rate of watering trees and shrubs is usually indicated in liters, and under an adult tree sometimes you need to pour 200 liters, that is, 20 buckets. What if there are a lot of trees? It is more convenient, of course, to water with a hose, but how to calculate the rate?

Everything is simple here – you need to pour a bucket from a hose and detect how long it took to fill up. For example, a bucket (10 liters) was filled in 1 minute, which means 200 liters – 20 minutes.

Cum se aplică corect îngrășământul?
Fertilizers should not be applied to dry soil – they can burn the roots. Before you feed the plants with a nutrient solution, they need to be watered – for a day.

But it is better to scatter dry fertilizers on dry soil, in order to then close them with a rake. But after that, it is necessary to water the plant.
