The first exhibition dedicated to perfume, The Art of Scent 1889–2012, opened in New York. It presents 1889 legendary fragrances that were created from the end of the 2012th century to the present day.
So that the visitor can enjoy the mysterious compositions and recognize each note, the organizers removed all visual signs and logos from the halls. At the Art of Fragrance exhibition, a special installation was created for the presentation of perfume masterpieces, small recesses in the wall; you need to tilt your head to taste the aroma.
One of the central exhibits is the Aromatics Elixir, Clinique fragrance, created in 1971 by the famous master of the perfume industry, Bernard Chant. At the time of the appearance of this fragrance, Clinique went against the then rules and presented an unconventional floral-chypre composition with notes of rose, patchouli, incense and oakmoss. It is thanks to the success of Aromatics Elixir that floral fragrances with notes of patchouli have become popular – modern chypre compositions. Released in 1971, the first fragrance from Clinique – Aromatics Elixir went down in the history of perfumery as one of the first not only perfumery, but partly aromatherapy means.
