Cap 5-8 cm in diameter, convex with a rolled edge, then convex-prostrate with a lowered edge, often tuberculate, fine-grained, with small sharp red scales, bright red, orange-red, sometimes with a darker center, with white flakes along the edge
The plates are frequent, thin, slightly adherent, light, whitish, later cream
